Konami Digital Entertainment Inc., today announced it will publish N3II: Ninety-Nine Nights for Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. This sequel, based on the all-action combat game Ninety-Nine Nights, will pick up the story where the original left off and take it to all new heights.

Set on a ravaged world, N3II: Ninety-Nine Nights invites the player to take on all comers in a series of spectacular battles. Players can enjoy the story from five different perspectives – including humans, elves and goblins – and are pitted against wave after wave of adversaries in the ultimate ‘last man standing’ free-for-all. Each of the species is given a specific back-story, which unfolds as the game progresses, while the various races also bring unique skills and abilities to the battle field.

At its heart, N3II: Ninety-Nine Nights is a vast combat title, with hundreds of enemy creatures on screen simultaneously. As the camera picks over the action, the player can use a wealth of easily effected combo attacks to carve a path through the enemy, and also use whatever weapons and items come to hand. At the end of each skirmish, players will then face a ‘Titanic Boss Battle’ against the champion of their current adversary, with players forced to move quickly and locate the well-hidden weak spots of these seemingly unstoppable behemoths.

N3II: Ninety-Nine Nights also has a stunning two-player co-op online mode, wherein player’s team up against the oncoming hordes, working together to expand their combo range to take out more enemy assailants at once. This two-player mode features online ranking boards detailing the most effective pairings across the globe.

N3II: Ninety-Nine Nights will be released in Spring 2010 and available for Xbox 360.

The Passing

Left 4 Dead 2 “ The Passing”

Valve has revealed the first downloadable addition to Left 4 Dead 2, a new episode named “The Passing.” The campaign, set after the events of “Dead Center,” features a meet up between Ellis, Coach, Rochelle, and Nick and Bill, Francis, Zoey and Louis.

“The Passing” has new “uncommon common” infected type, new weapons (One Mele & One firearm) and a new challenge play mode. The new campaign will be survival based and have a versus and scavenge mode as well. There is also an unannounced new mode as well.

The new episode is “set in a small town in rural Georgia,” according to Valve’s release, keeping players in the role of Left 4 Dead 2′s cast “as they meet with the L4D1 characters.” Could “The Passing” offer 4-plus-4 cooperative multiplayer action, or are we just aiming too high?

Left 4 Dead 2′s “The Passing” is scheduled for release in “early spring” for the PC and Xbox 360. Pricing has not yet been announced.

What can I say about zombies other than anything with them is always a good thing. Nihilistic got this game right starting with the controls. The gameplay is simplistic with straightforward playability. Zombie Apocalypse has a natural pickup and play element despite a small learning curve to the game,

There is no real background as to what caused the zombie infection or a clear escape path, just survival. The graphics are good, but the real innovation within this game is the moving scenery that can destroy, damage and kill your zombie horde. If used properly you can make the background of dangerous moving objects work for you in helping to dispatch zombies.

The zombies get progressively harder to beat over time and there is more of a balance to weapons and zombies in the game than others in the genre. There are many weapons you get to use like flamethrowers, shotguns, chain guns, and, of course, teddy bears that say “I’m stuffed with love and C4”. There are some funny comments from some of the characters when clearing out a level . I won’t spoil the fun, but you have to hear some of their comments to believe them.

Multiplayer gives up some achievement points just for playing online, and completing levels gets easier with the help of up to four people playing online in co-op.  At times slogging through the game and killing so many zombies may seem to be mountainous, but killing zombies for me is always fun and never gets old. Be warned that the content in this game is not recommended for kids and is lengthy. So if you are looking to add some quick gamerscore, it will not happen on this game.

Xbox 360

It’s been almost 4 years since the birth of the Xbox 360 and there seems to be no signs of its popularity waning. Sales numbers continue to rise and there are hundreds of games for all types of players. But even with the downturn in the economy and the soaring popularity of the 360, there is one question every Xbox 360 owner has asked: When is the next Xbox coming out?

Xbox Next, Xbox 720 or whatever its name will be has been the topic of conjecture for over two years now. However, there have been almost no substantial facts  from Microsoft to give gamers any real idea of what to expect. Almost nothing.

Fact: Sony and Nintendo are already developing new consoles. With this being true, Microsoft would have to be nuts not to have a team already at work on a new system. Sony was the North American leader of the industry until they waited so long to put out the PS3. Xbox 360 had almost two full years without a Sony next generation competitor. There is no way Microsoft will let Sony overtake them again.

Fact: Microsoft wants the Xbox 360 to have an extended lifespan. They have stated that 5 years with the current technology is not a long enough lifespan for the Xbox 360. As a matter of fact, the original Xbox was sold new into 2007 even though production had ended in 2005. Most of the industry expects a new Xbox in 2011 or 2012 which would equate to 6 or 7 years after the initial launch of the 360.

Fact: Xbox 360’s  motion control, Natal, is coming out “soon”. Even though Microsoft has announced that they will not rush the technology until it is ready, they had stated at E3 this past June that they anticipate a launch late in 2009. Natal will undoubtedly be used for the next generation console, but since Microsoft has invested a lot of money to ensure that it works with the 360 they will most likely want at least a year with the 360.

Fact: Microsoft has completed a total processor makeover of the Xbox 360. If you are the poor gamer who has seen the dreaded Red Ring of Death then you know that overheating is a killer of the processor. This prompted Microsoft to not only extend their Xbox 360 warranty from 1 year to 3 years, but they replaced the Xenon processor with the smaller, yet just as powerful, Jasper. This marks a commitment from Microsoft to keep the system on the market for as long as possible to recoup as much money as possible.

The bottom-line: Microsoft is looking into a new Xbox, Natal is going to be the key component, but with the investments that they have recently put into the Xbox 360 we are going to have to wait at least two more years before we see anything. The only new system any us will see from Microsoft over the next year will a Natal included 360. Of course, I could be absolutely wrong.

“We feel we owe you all a small heads-up, and our apologies for lack of updates,” said Mika Reini, CFO of Remedy, on the official forums. “We’re still here and working hard on getting Alan Wake for you to enjoy.

“Sure, we’ve been in development for a long time and if everything had gone perfectly smoothly there probably would be a game out for you guys to play already. But designing a completely new game can be hard, and sometimes you need to take a detour to find the best route forward.

“We want to entertain you guys in the best possible way and our team is putting in every effort possible in order for that to happen. That is the way Remedy wants to do things. I’m sure you will enjoy Alan Wake when we’re done,” he added.

Alan Wake was revealed at E3 2005 but subsequently ducked out of sight, causing us all to panic like a haunted author on the run from terrible nocturnal phantoms. Which, incidentally, is a lot like the plot of the game.

Alan Wake is in development for PC and Xbox 360, and is expected, eventually, sometime in 2009.

You take the role of Alex Mercer – a genetically mutated man without memory, armed with amazing shape-shifting abilities, hunting to discover what created you and determined to make those responsible pay. Tear through a densely populated New York City, moving with free-roaming Parkour-style fluidity, consuming anybody that gets in his way, assuming their physical form, memories and abilities.

There is a signifigant amout of time that you have to invest to play the game to completion, however it is worth the work. We strongly recommend this game.
